Thor is celebrating his anniversary, and it is that on a day like today, August 11, 40 years ago Chris Hemsworth was born, the actor who gives life to the god of thunder. The Australian has become one of the most recognized physicists in today’s cinema. He is considered one of the ten highest-grossing actors in history and was the highest paid actor in 2014, according to Forbes magazine.

Although he was born in the Antipodes, Hemsworth is linked to Spain. In 2010 he married the Madrid actress, Elsa Pataky. The couple met in Los Angeles, where they both shared a diction teacher to improve their respective accents. After a year of dating, they said “I do” in an intimate wedding on the island of Sumba in Indonesia, on Christmas day.

Since 2015, the couple and their three children – India (10), and the twins Sasha and Tristán (8) – live in a coastal town in Australia, Byron Bay. The municipality is known for its rich nature, with subtropical mountains and beaches for water sports, especially surfing, which Hemsworth and her children practice.

The family chose this place of residence to stay away from the media spotlight and for the little ones to grow up surrounded by nature, just as Chris did in his childhood. Even so, the couple has stated on numerous occasions that Spain is one of their favorite destinations, a country to which they often come and where a month ago they were enjoying the gastronomy of Madrid and the beaches of Eivissa.

The actor and producer of Tyler rake (which has just been released) and the actress of Al salir de clase are very aware of environmental protection. Hemsworth especially is dedicated to raising awareness about marine pollution. In 2020 he donated a million dollars to reforest Australia’s forests after the fires of the previous year.

The interpreter shares a profession with his older brother Luke, who has a consolidated career in Australia, and encouraged Chris to train as an actor. Liam, his little brother, was married to Miley Cyrus and starred in The Hunger Games.

Chris Hemsworth debuted with small roles for Australian television until he managed to play Kim Hyde in the hit series Home and away with which he gained considerable popularity. In 2009 he made his American screen debut as George Girk in Star Trek. Newly married to Pataky, he reached his crowning glory in 2011 when he was cast as Thor, a role that would ultimately earn him worldwide fame.

His figure as a Marvel superhero goes hand in hand with his admired physical condition. During the course of the multiple films in which he gave life to Thor, the interpreter underwent rigorous exercise routines and diets, reaffirming his imposing physique. As a result, he launched a wellness app -Centr- in which he offers health and fitness advice.

Last year he released his docuseries Sin Límites with Chris Hemsworth for Disney. The documentary consists of six chapters in which the Marvel star faces different challenges that put his body and mind to the test. This program marked a before and after in his life. During the recording, he underwent various medical tests that revealed that he has two copies of the APOE4 gene, which increases his chances of suffering from Alzheimer’s disease by 8 to 10 times.

When Chris’s genetic predisposition became known, many media outlets raised the alarm that the Hollywood star was going to retire. A short time later, the actor and his environment made it clear that he would improve his health habits and take a break after shooting several movies.

Chris Hemsworth turns 40 today, having become a reference in the cinema, for Thor, and in his personal and family life.
