Carlos Martinez: A Farewell to Ferrari

Carlos Sainz, the determined athlete known for his unwavering commitment to his craft, is gearing up for his final weekend as a Scuderia Ferrari HP driver. As he arrives at the Yas Marina paddock, there is no room for sadness in his heart. Instead, he is filled with a resolute determination to support his team in their quest for the Constructors’ championship. In a recent FIA press conference, Sainz boldly declared, “I want to help the team win the Constructors’ championship, we will give it our all even if it’s a daunting prospect.”

Unpredictable Challenges Ahead

Reflecting on the upcoming race weekend, Sainz acknowledged the unpredictable nature of the Yas Marina circuit. “It’s very difficult to predict what could happen,” he admitted. The circuit’s unique blend of characteristics presents a challenge for all teams. Sainz noted, “This track is well suited to each of the four best cars in the group: it’s got straights and 90-degree corners that suit us, but there are also some high-speed corners and long sections that are well suited to the McLaren and Red Bull.” With the race taking place at night, Sainz emphasized the importance of attention to detail and making the most of track time during free practice sessions.

Treasured Memories of Ferrari

When asked about his most cherished memories from his time at Ferrari, Sainz’s face lit up with nostalgia. “So many things,” he began. “The special affection of the team, laughter with the mechanics, their dedication to the job, the unique bond with the fans, and of course, the victories.” He recounted the exhilarating wins at Silverstone in 2022, Singapore in 2023, and this year in Australia and Mexico, where he triumphed in front of his beloved family. However, amidst all the triumphs, one moment stood out above the rest – his first test drive at Fiorano on January 27, 2021. Recalling the emotional day, Sainz shared, “I drove out of the garage at Fiorano at the wheel of a Ferrari for the first time. My father was there too, and it was a truly unforgettable moment.”

Through his determination, resilience, and unwavering commitment to excellence, Carlos Sainz has left an indelible mark on the world of Formula 1. As he prepares to bid farewell to Ferrari, his legacy as a true sportsman and competitor will continue to inspire generations to come.
