The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction announced that an escaped killer has been captured after three days on the run. Ramone Alston, the escaped murderer, was taken into custody by the FBI, Charlotte SWAT agents, Kannapolis Police, and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police early Friday morning at the Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham in Kannapolis. The capture occurred without any injuries.

The Orange County Sheriff reported that with two strong leads, the search for the escaped killer entered a new phase. Shortly after Alston’s capture, a woman named Jacobia Crisp was arrested in Alamance County for harboring an escapee and felony aiding and abetting a fugitive. She is being held on a $30,000 bail.

Authorities revealed that Alston and Crisp had made a hotel reservation in Crisp’s name on Wednesday. Alston, who was serving a life sentence for the murder of 1-year-old Maleah Williams in 2015, managed to escape while being transported from Bertie Correctional Institution to UNC Gastroenterology in Hillsborough for medical treatment on August 13. The search for Alston involved hundreds of personnel from various agencies.

In addition to his existing life sentence for murder, Alston is now facing charges for felony escape. The swift action and collaboration of state, local, and federal law enforcement agencies were crucial in locating and apprehending Alston to ensure the safety of the community.

The capture of the escaped killer highlights the importance of effective coordination between different law enforcement agencies in ensuring public safety. Cases like these require a rapid response and a unified effort to track down dangerous individuals and bring them to justice. The successful apprehension of Ramone Alston is a testament to the dedication and hard work of law enforcement personnel who put their lives on the line to protect the community.

It is important for the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement authorities. Cooperation between law enforcement and the community is essential in maintaining safety and security for all residents. The incident serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by law enforcement in dealing with violent offenders and the importance of staying alert and responsive to potential threats.

Overall, the capture of the escaped killer is a testament to the hard work and dedication of law enforcement agencies in North Carolina. The successful resolution of this case demonstrates the effectiveness of collaboration and coordination in ensuring the safety and security of the community.
