La Plana de Vic is synonymous with mists, authentic seas that in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia we can see in this report from different perspectives.

The bucolic nature of the morning landscape stands out, with the herds grazing in the mist of the first bars of the day, in Santa Cecília de Voltregà.

In some areas, the popular “Pubilla de la Plana de Vic” is also known as “baixa joke”. Basically, it’s when a sea of fog comes down and covers everything.

It must be borne in mind that the Osona region is the place in Spain with the most foggy days, around a hundred a year.

La Plana de Vic is an elongated depression in a north-south direction that constitutes the central nucleus of Osona. When the cold air from the higher parts descends and stagnates in this sunken (flat) plain, the water vapor condenses into microscopic droplets.

This is how a sea of fog is produced that is a characteristic part of the landscape, as can be seen in the photographs. In this other sequence, the images have been captured from Sant Martí Xic.

This hermitage was initially known as Sant Martí de Voltregà or Sant Martí del Castell, but the popular nomenclature of Sant Martí Xic (that is, small) ended up being imposed due to its size.

The lack of worship led to the abandonment and subsequent ruin of the chapel of Sant Martí Xic, until it was restored in 1984.

Sant Martí Xic is located in the municipality of Les Masies de Voltregà (Osona) and is included in the Inventory of the Architectural Heritage of Catalonia.

The Ter river and its tributaries, with their erosive action, much deeper in the eastern part than in the western part, originated the Plana de Vic. Precisely, in this other snapshot we see the Ter with mist.

The Plana de Vic has a total area of 600 km2. It is completely surrounded by mountains, those of Ripollès and Garrotxa in the north; the Guilleries to the east; Montseny to the southeast; the Moianès and the Lluçanès towards the west. Therefore, it is closed by a ring of saws.

This other sequence of photographs is captured from Morro de la Trona. Fog is a meteorological term that refers to the suspension of small water droplets that together form very low clouds, near or at ground level.

La Trona de les Guilleries is one of the most unique rocks in the landscape of this part of Osona, populated by typically Mediterranean oak and cork oak forests on the slopes, and by oak and beech groves in the shade, although both types of forest have been replaced in part by forest crops of pines and chestnut trees.

In the Escull de la Trona there are some abrupt reliefs, in the northwest of the Plana de Vic, which separate it from the Lluçanès plateaus. In these reliefs there are outcrops of Paleogene coral reefs.
