Two out of three Barcelonans disagree with the superblock project promoted by the Ada Colau government or with the way it is being carried out. This is clear from the accumulated results to date in the interactive on the municipal elections in Barcelona produced by Public Affairs Experts for La Vanguardia.

34.97% of the users who have responded to the questionnaire on the La Vanguardia website are in favor of what has been the star project of the commons for this mandate. while 65.03% manifest themselves against it or the way in which it is being carried out.

Four weeks after the launch of this participation forum, only 13.30% of users believe that the green areas of the Eixample will create crucial jobs for the city of the future.

The districts of Horta-Guinardó, Sant Martí and Gràcia are the ones that most share the statement that this is a project that could be described as a “scam” and that it has, above all, a propaganda and ideological effect. In addition, 15.5% consider that the Colau superblocks generate counterproductive effects such as the expulsion of residents due to the increase in housing prices.

Despite the strong rejection of the superblocks, a third of Barcelonans believe that it is necessary to work to reduce gas emissions, preserve green areas and promote public transport without forgetting the commercial perspective of the city. This opinion is more widespread among the inhabitants of Sants-Montjuïc and Gràcia.

It is in the districts of Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, Eixample and Les Corts that there is the greatest discontent towards the superblocks, especially due to the fact that they have been built without dialogue with the residents and without taking into account their impact on other streets. In any case, one in four participants in this interactive (24.48%) believes that the measures to reduce pollution “are neither sufficient nor adequate” and that other measures of a structural nature must be adopted.

The questionnaire prepared from the opinions expressed by the candidates in the local elections on May 28 has also influenced the opinion of the people of Barcelona in relation to social exclusion and poverty. 40% of users agree that Barcelona has to commit to an inclusive and friendly society in which to live, but without losing sight of economic progress, understood as an instrument to guarantee social progress. This opinion rises to 51.13% among the inhabitants of Sarrià-Sant Gervasi.

Likewise, one in four participants in the survey (24.90%) is in favor of a comprehensive plan at the metropolitan level to reverse the situation of poverty.

6.80% maintain that large families are the most forgotten by public administrations in times of crisis and 22.75% agree with the statement that to eradicate poverty the involvement of the State is necessary with concrete measures , expediting the coverage of the minimum vital income, increasing public spending on childhood policies and guaranteeing equality in non-formal education”.
