Two of Britain’s top cabinet ministers resigned on Tuesday, a move that could spell the end of Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s leadership after months of scandal. The heads of Economy, Rishi Sunak, and Health, Sajid Javid, announced that they were leaving their positions within minutes of each other.
“I can no longer continue with a clear conscience,” Javid said. For his part, Sunak stated that “the public rightly expects the government to be carried out properly, competently and seriously.” “I recognize that this may be my last ministerial job, but I believe that these standards are worth fighting for and that is why I am resigning,” the economy minister added.
