Carlos Fernández Bielsa joins the race for succession at the PSPV. The mayor of Mislata announced this Saturday, after the celebration of the PSPV-PSOE National Committee, that next Monday he will present his candidacy to lead the party.
Bielsa, general secretary of the socialists in the province of Valencia, confirms his decision after the general secretary of Alicante and national deputy, Alejandro Soler, did so yesterday, Friday.
“I do it with conviction, with the hope of recovering the Government of the Valencian Community and that these 4 years of sectarian government are a parenthesis,” Bielsa declared. “After listening to the militancy, we want a change in the party model, to progress and face in the best possible way the challenge of defeating the ultra-right and neoliberal policies in 2027. The primaries must be positive,” he stressed.
As Soler did yesterday during his appearance in Elx, Fernández Bielsa has shown himself open to dialogue with the rest of the candidates “for a common objective” and has stressed that he maintains “an extraordinary relationship” and “shared objectives” with the man from Elche.
This morning, the Minister of Innovation and Science, Diana Morant, set a deadline for Monday to announce the decision to present her candidacy. He declared this when asked by journalists upon his arrival at the National Committee, and limited himself to expressing that today “is a great day”, in which “the process of reconquering the Generalitat Valenciana and many mayoralties begins.” that fell into the hands of the right and the extreme right and that they need and wait for the socialists.
Asked if she will run in the primaries, she stated: “We are going to celebrate the Committee and see each other on Monday” and added: “I am not Ferraz’s candidate or anyone else’s, I always owe myself to militancy.” “Those who know me know that I am always at the disposal of the socialist project and always from where I have been able to be, to work on the socialist project.”
According to Morant, “the greatest hope for the right is that we make mistakes again. Making mistakes means mistakes we have made in the past and spending 20 years in the opposition, so I am going to be there to guarantee that those mistakes do not happen again.” “That will be my endeavor in the coming weeks. See you on Monday,” he concluded.
The National Committee of the PSPV-PSOE has called today the Extraordinary Congress of the Valencian Socialists after its members ratified the calendar proposed by the party Executive. In this regard, the general secretary of the PSPV-PSOE, Ximo Puig, has highlighted in statements to the media the need for this process “to be a journey towards the social majority of the Valencian Community” and has indicated that “we must act with maximum responsibility and thinking about Valencian society”: “We have the possibility of demonstrating that we are the most competitive so that Valencians have a solid, consistent, powerful, renewed alternative and capable of returning to a situation of progress in the Valencian Community” .
The calendar approved by the PSPV-PSOE includes the presentation of pre-candidacies for the general secretary from January 29 to 30, the collection of endorsements until February 7 as well as the information campaign that would be held from February 8 to 23.
