The Recording Academy has announced the candidates for the 2023 Grammy Awards on Tuesday. This 65th edition of the awards granted by the music industry hosts a total of 91 categories.

Beyoncé, Adele, Harry Styles and Lizzo have taken over the main nominations this year, which also includes the Spanish Rosalía and the Puerto Rican Bad Bunny among the candidates.

This was announced this Tuesday in an act of the US National Recording Arts and Sciences Academy, in which it was reported that this edition will have five new categories: Best Alternative Music Performance; Best OST for video games and other interactive media; Best Performance by a Non-Classical Composer; Best Spoken Word Poetry Album and Best Official Song for Social Change.

For Best Album of the Year, Adele, Kendrick Lamar, Harry Styles, Lizzo, Beyoncé, Abba, Bad Bunny, Mary J. Blidge, Brandi Carlile and Coldplay will compete.

Several of them will repeat in Record of the Year, in which ‘Don’t shut me down’, by ABBA, has been nominated; ‘Easy on me’, by Adele; ‘Break my soul’, by Beyoncé; ‘Good morning gorgeous’, by Mary J. Blige; ‘You and me on the rock’, by Brandi Carlile; ‘Woman’, by Doja Cat; ‘About damn time’; from Lizzo; ‘Bad Habit’, by Stevy; ‘The heart part 5, by Kendrick Lamar, and ‘As it was’, by Harry Styles.

The songs by the British Adele and the American Beyoncé are part of their respective returns to the music scene after several years of not having released any studio album.

With the record ’30’, Adele tells a very intimate account of her life, including her divorce and the task of being a mother. Beyoncé has returned six years after her last studio album with ‘Renaissance’, a project whose development was highly conditioned by the pandemic and which has been considered by her followers as an experimental stage in her career.

The British Harry Styles could surprise in this category after a year of enormous popular success that has even elevated him to the world of cinema. The Grammy for best recording for the song ‘As It Was’, within the studio album ‘Harry’s House’, would be his second gramophone.

On the other hand, Rosalía has been nominated for Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album for ‘Motomami’ and for Best Long Form Music Video for her performance on TikTok.

Last year, an update to the rules allowed any songwriter, producer, engineer or featured artist on an album nominated for album of the year to ultimately earn a nomination.

Another of the great novelties of the Grammy 2023 edition is that the delivery will take place again at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, and the date will be Sunday, February 5, 2023.

To help celebrate the 2023 Grammy nominees, the Recording Academy has featured a roster of presenters, beginning with Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr, who was joined by Jimmie Allen, the hosts of CBS Mornings. , Nate Burleson and Gayle King, Luis Fonsi, John Legend, Machine Gun Kelly, Smokey Robinson and Olivia Rodrigo.

Additionally, three-time Grammy Award winners Dan Shay and two-time Grammy Award winner Cyndi Lauper provided live performances as well as helping present the nominations. Dan Shay is a celebrated American country music duo consisting of vocalists and songwriters Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney.
