Twenty years have passed since a very young 21-year-old Beth represented Spain in Eurovision, in the festival held in Riga and in which she achieved a creditable eighth place with 81 points. The Catalan, who became known in the media in the second edition of Operación Triunfo, defended the song Dime, which, over the years, has ended up becoming a hymn for Eurofans.

Of course, like most songs, this successful composition also hides an intrastory that will soon see the light of day in the form of a documentary, produced by Gestmusic. It will be in May, just before Eurovision, when Beth tells on the small screen her particular trauma with a song to which she closed the doors for many years. See you tomorrow.

The artist from Súria will take the stage of the Sant Jordi Club within the framework of the BCN Eurovision Party to return to defend a song with which she has had a complicated relationship, and which is now 20 years old. This anniversary and the insistence of the organization have been key for the actress and singer to decide to take the step of reconciliation, and change her mind. “I never would have thought that she would sing this song again,” says Beth in a chat with this medium.

However, it has aligned all the elements. To the celebration of two decades of the career, we must add the great result of Chanel last year: “Since then the score that I obtained had not been exceeded, and that put a lot of pressure on me,” confesses the artist. Although there is another key element in her chip change: “There has been a process of understanding and realizing that Dime is a very important song for many people, and I think that during these years it is something that I had not seen.”

Beth felt indebted to the people who have been waiting for that moment all these years and talks about a double liberation, one with her audience and the other with herself: “It’s my own liberation, I do it because I want to, not because it’s imposed on me. “, Explain.

And this is a vitally important point. The singer has always publicly acknowledged that this song did not represent her style, at a time when she was beginning her career and she wanted to decide what essence to give it. “I am a person who has quite a character, stubborn, and I don’t take very well being told what to do,” Beth admits.

The time has finally come, and she does not hide that she feels nervous, but also excited: “I know that I will have spotlights, but now I do it from freedom, not from imposition”, she is sincere. And she warns: “I have come very high and I will do it to the fullest, with her dancers, her wardrobe and giving everything, as if she were in Eurovision.” She becomes the most diva Beth. The professional who chooses her destiny, and her career never left.

The BCN Eurovision Party has established itself in the city after the first edition was held last year with the presence of Chanel (in the photo), who performed for Eurofans in Barcelona a few days before heading to Turin.

From the organization this year a lot has been fought so that one of the great claims was Beth and the rebirth of her Dime, something that has finally been achieved in style, with the artist excited about the show that will take place tomorrow at the Sant Jordi Club along with many other artists. “There will be the same or more nerves than 20 years ago, but perhaps enjoying it will make it more,” says the Catalan artist, who is also preparing her Beth 20 tour, with which she will review all her hits from these two decades and where his Eurovision hit will not be missing either.

The tour will begin on April 22, within the framework of the Strenes Festival, and, among other events, it will also be in Barcelona on May 23, at the Luz de Gas venue. Beth acknowledges that her children, Lía and Kai, have also become hooked on her Dime, and that they are very excited to see the most diva facet of her mother, which until now they have not enjoyed on stage .
