Once again, the city of Barcelona has its space among the hive of pavilions of the Fira de Barcelona to show a piece of its social and cultural life within Beat Barcelona, ??“the place to B”, as the motto of this thoughtful initiative says. to combine rest with the exchange of ideas, enlivened with live music and cultural proposals so that attendees can taste the spirit of the city without having to leave the fairgrounds.
It is the third year that the MWC hosts Beat Barcelona, ??a proposal promoted by Barcelona City Council, Mobile World Capital Barcelona and GSMA, which in this edition has changed its location to be located in the interior garden of pavilion 8, near the northern entrance. to the Fira Gran Via and to the doors of 4YFN. Various activities are being held there, which this year revolve around five axes: an agora space, musical offerings, networking, technological proposals and gastronomic offerings. All this in an outdoor area of ??1,600 square meters where meetings can be held in a relaxed atmosphere that includes two hot and cold food bars as well as beverage service.
The objective that the organizers of this proposal had set was to “show the spirit of the city to the congressmen”, who do not always have it easy to find time to enjoy Barcelona, ??with their agendas full of meetings and presentations.
The musical section is run in the mornings by the Associació de Sales de Concerts de Catalunya, with a performance by local DJs such as Selectya Glossy, from the Vol room; dj Rosario, from Apolo; Lzztto, of Freedonia; Miguel Superstar, from Marula Café, or Clara Rigby and Nacho Ruiz, from Sidecar. The afternoon session corresponds to the Barcelona Music Lab, which explores different musical genres live with the performances of three DJs installed in the city: the DJ duo Phun, the Argentine Dirty Larita and the legendary DJ Amable from Razzmatazz.
The music is complemented by other cultural projects such as the one created especially for the event by Barcelona Music Lab, which represents a living sculpture made from 3,571 recycled plastic bottles that, through sound and light, reflect an interconnected ecosystem, a story based on data that highlights the importance of the music sector on the local and global scene, as well as its impact on the digital society. Made with a 3D printer, the result is a construction with transparent and translucent parts that allows light to refract through the walls of the sculpture.
Another option for visitors has been to visit different spaces in the city through virtual reality, traveling from the top of the Collserola tower to the stops at the Sant Antoni market or the port moorings, a sensory journey complemented by several content sessions. , as a round table, which brings the visitor closer to the health care sector, haute cuisine or Barcelona’s role as the capital of the chip.
The open-air venue is also the place where three technological projects made in Barcelona have been presented that will allow attendees to try out some of the latest technological proposals designed for emblematic spaces in the city.
These proposals follow the thread started in the last 2023 edition, in which Beat Barcelona included proposals such as silent headphones to follow the DJ’s performances or participate in Izal’s last concert at Sant Jordi organized by the Cruïlla festival using glasses. of virtual reality.
