Barcelona women imposed logic at the Butarque stadium in Leganés and beat Real Madrid this afternoon (4-0) in the semifinal of the Spanish Super Cup. In Saturday’s final they will face Levante, who left out Atlético de Madrid on Tuesday.

There are times when the distance between Barcelona and Real Madrid seems to be getting shorter. In this same competition last season, Barça needed extra time to get into the final, but on other occasions it seemed like it stretched like a piece of gum and the distance once again became astronomical in size. This is what happened yesterday on the cold afternoon in Butarque in which, despite the losses, Madrid lasted barely a quarter of an hour against Barcelona, ??in which they had already scored two goals and gave them a feeling of overwhelming superiority. At half-time, already 3-0 and thanks to Madrid, the game was looking like a real beating.

Alberto Toril’s team is still unable to beat the Blaugrana. With this, there are already thirteen classics won by those coached by Jonatan Giráldez, who continue to have an impeccable season, in first position in the League, with 39 points, 59 goals for and only three goals against. Furthermore, the Blaugranas have already won all 19 games they have played this campaign and in 14 of them they have kept a clean sheet.

Toril, with an expiration date like Giraldez and more questioned than ever after the recent elimination in the Champions League, made three changes to the team that had just won 0-5 against Betis in the Copa de la Reina. Olga Carmona returned to the eleven for Svava; Freja Siri replaced Moller and Zornoza Tere Abelleira.

The Blaugrana expedition had traveled to Leganés with two good news: Cata Coll and Marta Torrejón had been able to join the call after receiving a medical discharge. All in all, it was a Barça with significant losses, such as Mapi León, Alexia Putellas or Rolfö,

The game started with a shot into the side netting, but it was a mirage. In their first chance, a corner poorly defended by Madrid, Barcelona opened the scoring with a hit by Mariona Caldentey at the goal mouth.

They were only ten minutes old and Madrid accused the punishment. Four minutes later, Barcelona put the distance when Salma Paralluelo took advantage of a great pass from Ona ??Batlle, scrambled into the area and scored from the outside.

With the two-goal advantage, Barcelona slowed down somewhat and Madrid tried to get into the game with long passes to the Colombian Linda Caicedo, who was trying to exploit her speed. Madrid had a timid phase of dominance and Olga Carmona was able to score after a rebound that left her with a free ball, but her hard shot was intercepted by Engen.

The end of the first half was clearly Barcelona’s again. In the 34th minute Ivana knocked down Mariona in the area. Marta Huerta did not whistle anything, but the VAR warned her. The referee went to the monitor to review the play and declared the penalty, which Mariona converted.

The punishment could have been greater for Madrid before the break because in added time there was a shot by Ona Batlle that hit the crossbar.

The second half began in a similar vein. Madrid was going up and Barcelona found spaces to easily counterattack. The danger was more around the Misa area than Cata Coll. After a good save from Misa to Aitana, it was 4-0 at 51, another Paralluelo play who only had to almost accidentally push a cross from Graham Hansen.

Giraldez then changed Salma, Paredes and Mariona already thinking about the final. The game slowed down somewhat. Barcelona found the fifth in the 78th minute with a close shot against Patri Guijarro’s post, but Var annulled it due to Aitana’s offside. 4-0 was the final result.
