First it was Paradiso that led the ranking of the best bars in the world; and this year it is Sips, Marc Álvarez and Simone Caporale’s cocktail bar in Eixample, which has just opened speakeasy. It was not surprising that with so much cocktail buzz, someone thought of creating an initiative to bring mixology closer to the general public: with this pretext, the Barcelona Bar Show (BBS) has just been born, a non-profit association that has convened, from today, Thursday until next Sunday, the first edition of the largest cocktail bar meeting to date in Barcelona.
More than 70 bars in the city will participate in this event, which will have two main formats: on the one hand, the BBS DAYS, with which the establishment itself will offer a special cocktail that represents it under the BBS label. In this way, routes can be followed through the city, extending the visiting possibilities to practically all districts.
On the other hand, next Sunday the 17th will be the big day of this event with the celebration of the BBS Showroom, an event that will be held at the Hyatt Regency Barcelona hotel and will bring together the best bartenders. Marc Álvarez from Sips, and his conceptualization of a brand applied to a small bar, will be one of the speakers along with Max La Rocca or Daniel Arévalo from Somnia. Award-winning international bartenders from London, Italy and Latin America will also attend, and the mix of cultures with Armenia, Mexico.
As explained by Cristian Valls, director of the BBS, in a statement, the idea of ??promoting this initiative has to do with trying to narrow the gap between bartender and customer. “We want to make this experience a memorable one, which continues to enhance our city as a global leader in this trend of quality and creativity.”
The ticket for the 17th will have a price of 12 euros and includes a cocktail with or without alcohol, also giving access to talks, shows, demonstrations and ‘food corners’, from 12:00 to 00:00. Each participating venue will serve the chosen cocktail at its stand at a price of €6.
Among the topics that will be discussed at Sunday’s event will be from customer service in the world of cocktails, highlighting the need to maintain a customer-centered approach at all times, to techniques and tips for efficiency in service. , highlighting the importance of speed and precision in a high-demand environment.
