Barça has reached an agreement with Atlético de Madrid for the transfer of Swiss international Ana-Maria Crnogorcevic. The versatile footballer, 32 years old, has signed for one season, until June 2024, with the Colchonero club, ending four seasons wearing the Blaugrana shirt.
Crnogorcevic arrived in Barcelona in 2019, coming from the American league, and in these four years she has become a much-loved player both by the fans and by her own teammates. With the Catalan club, she has won two Champions League titles, four Leagues, three Queen’s Cups and three Spanish Super Cups.
The player has not been included in the Swiss squad for upcoming Nations League matches and coach Inka Grings confirmed that she had been given permission by the national team to resolve her situation at the club. The Helvetian team was Spain’s rival in the last 16 of the World Cup, where they were eliminated by 1 goal to 5 by what would end up being world champions.
Ana-Maria Crnogorcevic had one more year on her contract, but FC Barcelona has decided to take economic advantage of her sale and thus also reduce the team’s salary mass. An operation that arrives on the last day of the market in which Barça has released four footballers whose contract expired in 2024: Nuria Rábano (Wolfsburg), Geyse Ferreira (Manchester United), Laia Codina (Arsenal) and now Crnogorcevic (Atlético ). Thanks to these sales, the club would have entered more than half a million euros while the only two signings, Ona Batlle and Esmee Brugts, have arrived free at the Catalan club.
