“Zones with zero demand, homes already sold, illegally occupied properties and flats that do not meet the minimum habitability conditions.” These are the incidents that are most repeated in the conclusions of the technicians from the Community of Madrid have collected after inspecting the 2,709 Sareb flats in the region so that only five can be inhabited.

Of the 50,000 Sareb homes announced by the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, that will be mobilized for affordable rentals, 2,709 are in the Community of Madrid (1,189 in the capital and the remaining 1,520 in other municipalities).

As confirmed to Europa Press by regional government sources, Sareb offered the Community of Madrid 87 homes for possible acquisition (once squats without legal title or with an area of ​​less than 150 square meters have been ruled out).

The technicians from the Ministry of the Environment, Housing and Agriculture reviewed the records of the same and informed that only 51 were likely to be used for social rent, since the rest were located in areas with no demand, and had already been sold. or were illegally occupied.

Of those that the technicians were able to visit, only seven received the go-ahead and this number finally dropped to five, which were the ones that met the minimum habitability conditions.

In statements distributed to the media, the sector’s counselor, Paloma Martín, has criticized that former minister José Luis Ábalos announced in July 2018 that 20,000 rental homes were going to be built and later in March 2021 he said that there would be 100,000. “This week we learned how the Government once again announced 50,000 Sareb homes that are not such,” she went on to point out.

In addition, he has pointed out that it is “a second bailout, because the Government removes the problem of managing the most toxic assets from the banks and with less forecast of disposal to transfer it to the autonomous communities making the bill pay all the citizens”.
