The president of the Community of Madrid did not want to wait until the last minute to announce her position regarding aid for transport that began in 2022 as a measure to alleviate the effects of inflation. And she has announced that she will maintain until the end of the year the reduction of the transport pass up to 60%, a measure that initially expired on June 30.
The discount will be 50% for multi-journey tickets so that, among others, the single Metro ticket fare will be 1.5 euros regardless of the number of stations that are traveled.
With the extension of these deductions, the 30-day Youth Pass will continue to have a price of 8 euros; Normal A will be 21.80; 25.40 for trips in zone B1; 28.80 in the case of B2 users, and 32.80 euros for those traveling in B3-C1/C2. For their part, 10-journey tickets for the Metro, Light Rail and EMT remain at 8.5 euros as long as they are used within zone A.
In this way, Ayuso is ahead of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, in terms of aid for public transport when, in the previous extensions, it was the leader of the Executive who tried to guide the debate by conditioning national aid to the autonomous communities promote similar measures.
The Ministry of Transport has also proposed to simplify the rates with only two zones: Madrid (A) and the rest of the region (B), which will mean savings of up to 180 euros per year for citizens of the municipalities furthest from the Gate of the sun.
As for people with a degree of disability equal to or greater than 65%, public transport will be free.
While large families in the general category will have an additional discount of 20%.
