On May 28 there will be no trace of Pablo Casado in the PP of Madrid after the president of the Community and candidate for re-election, Isabel DÃaz Ayuso, has carried out a “profound renovation” in her list for the Assembly of Madrid, in which, after eliminating candidates related to the former president of the Popular Party Pablo Casado, about 50% of the names are new.
The regional president’s team has announced the final order of the PP’s regional list in which, leading the president’s bodyguard, stands out the general secretary of the PP in Madrid and campaign manager, Alfonso Serrano. So that the current vice president of the Community, Enrique Ossorio, is relegated to number three.
They are followed on the list by the current president of the Madrid Assembly, Eugenia Carballedo; the Minister of Finance, Javier Fernández Lasquetty; that of the Environment; Dove Martin; and the head of Health, Enrique Ruiz Escudero
According to sources from the PP in Madrid, “there has never been a renewal of such magnitude” in the formation, since it has not only been applied to the list of the regional Chamber but also in the municipalities. In addition, they have defended that this has been “one of the calmest list-making processes in the history of the Madrid PP and in tune with the Madrid City Council.”
Thus, around 50% of the members of the list for the Assembly are new, similar to what has happened in the municipalities. “The best replacement has been sought for those candidates who had already served as deputies for several legislatures”, these same sources have highlighted as an argument to justify the cleansing of Casadista candidates such as, for example, the current Minister of the Interior, Enrique López, or the former general secretary of the party in the region, Ana Camins, who will have to settle for being number three on the municipal list in Majadahonda as penance for her closeness to Casado during the internal war of the PP in March 2022.
Less tough, but just as striking, is the departure of the regional councilors Carlos Izquierdo and David Pérez, who will go on the list of the PP to the Madrid City Council, demonstrating that the crisis of confidence opened a year ago has only been able to be partially restored.
In addition, the PP spokesman in the Assembly, Pedro Múñoz Abrines, has been placed in the main positions, as well as people with responsibilities within the formation designated after the Regional Congress such as Ana Millán, Jorge Rodrigo, Ignacio Vázquez and Jesús Moreno.
Also in starting positions, the ‘popular’ leader has placed the former national deputy of Citizens Patricia Reyes. In addition, former ‘orange’ parliamentarians Marta Marbán and Sergio Brabezo will continue in the Madrid Chamber. The latter were incorporated in 2021, after the breakup of the coalition government.
In addition, mayors of intermediate and small municipalities have been included in the list of the Madrid Parliament “in recognition of the work of municipalism to unite” the Community of Madrid.
The president of Nuevas Generaciones de Madrid, Ignacio Dancausa, will not go in a starting position as was traditionally the case, but will symbolically close the list. “He will start from municipal politics, in his town, setting an example to the rest of the party’s youth,” they have indicated from the formation.
