The surroundings of Saldes, in Berguedà, are marked by the omnipresent silhouette of Pedraforca and the autumn landscape seems to guide us along the paths towards this emblematic mountain, as seen in La Vanguardia’s Readers’ Photos.

Pedraforca is one of the most popular mountains in Catalonia, located in the Sierra del Cadí, within the Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park area.

Located on the border between the provinces of Barcelona and Lleida, it has a very peculiar shape due to its peaks separated by a large hill.

The best-known view of Pedraforca is the one seen from its eastern slope. On the northern summit we find the peak of Pollegó Superior, at 2,506 meters high, and the peak of Calderer, at 2,505 meters high. The southern peak is formed by Pollegó Inferior, at 2,445 meters high.

Saldes is a northern municipality in the Berguedà region, located at the foot of Pedraforca, on the east side of this mountain, in the middle of the Cadí and Ensija mountain ranges. It borders, to the north, the enclave of Cortils de Bagà, the locality from which this last photograph in the report was taken.
