At least four people have died and others were injured in an avalanche that has taken place on the Armancette glacier, in the Alps, on the border between France and Italy.

The incident took place this afternoon and was announced via Twitter by the French Interior Minister, Gérald Darmanin.

The assessment of this avalanche in Haute-Savoie is still “provisional” and “the rescue is still underway”, said the minister, directing his “thoughts for the victims and their loved ones”.
