The National Police arrested three people this morning for robbing a truck full of computer equipment at gunpoint on a street in the Madrid district of Usera, according to a spokeswoman for the Madrid Police Headquarters.
The events occurred around 8:15 a.m. this Friday. Four hooded individuals arrived aboard a small truck on Alerte Street, in the Orcasur neighborhood. At gunpoint, they stopped an articulated truck from a computer company. One of them got on and started off, holding the trucker hostage. The latter has not yet been arrested.
The other thieves fled in the vehicle they came with, which was immediately followed by an off-duty national police officer who noticed what had happened. Finally, at kilometer 23,500 of the M-40, in Villaverde, it was intercepted by a police car and its occupants, who were wearing a balaclava and a simulated weapon, were arrested. They are accused of crimes of illegal detention, threats, robbery with violence and criminal organization.
The truck driver, victim of said illegal detention and threats, was found minutes later on the M-45 and taken by the Civil Guard to the Rivas post to file a complaint and question him about what happened.
The police intervention has caused traffic jams on the M-40 near Villaverde this morning.
