The Civil Guard has arrested 13 people in Albudeite (Murcia), including the PSOE candidate for Mayor, for her alleged involvement in a plot to buy votes by mail for the 28-M elections, as confirmed by La Vanguardia sources close to the investigation. In addition, there are two other people investigated, who have not been arrested, in the framework of this case that is under summary secrecy.
In addition to the socialist candidate, Isabel Peñalver, in the police operation for the alleged purchase of votes by mail in exchange for money, number 19 on the regional list of socialists, Héctor Antonio MartÃnez, has also been arrested.
The 13 people arrested this Thursday in the Murcian town of 1,300 inhabitants have been released after testifying at the Armed Institute. The cause, which remains secret, investigates an alleged attempt at electronic fraud such as the one that emerged in Melilla and Mojácar (AlmerÃa) during this electoral campaign: money in exchange for votes by mail.
Through a statement, the PSOE of the Region of Murcia has stated that they will not tolerate “any type of lack of exemplarity” in their organization. “In the Socialist Party, our pulse does not tremble before any illegal or unethical practice. If the facts are confirmed, the pertinent measures will be taken that, in the case of affecting one of our militants, will go through the immediate expulsion of the party and the cessation of all the positions that he occupies”, they have affected.
