A 22-year-old girl has been found dead at her home, in the Seville town of Utrera, with a strong blow to the head, and everything indicates that it is a new case of sexist violence. In fact, the Civil Guard has arrested the couple of the murdered, a man who has remained unaccounted for for several hours and who was “hiding” in the municipality itself.

According to ABC, it was the victim’s sister, with whom he shared a house, who found his body around six in the morning and who alerted the emergency services, although they could not do anything to save his life. .

If confirmed, the number of women killed by gender violence this year would rise to 32 (the ninth in Andalusia), after the Ministry of Equality has added to its chilling statistics the crime of the Barcelona woman murdered yesterday by stab wounds.

According to sources from the Civil Guard, the victim’s body was found at an address on Cristo de los Afligidos street in Utrera and had a strong blow to the head. The call to the emergency services was made by a neighbor of the town after hearing the cries for help from the victim’s sister who, apparently, was the one who found the body.

The young woman was a Nicaraguan national and had been residing in Utrera for a short time. Neither she nor her husband, who has been arrested, were included in the Comprehensive Monitoring System in cases of Gender Violence, known as VioGén, nor did they have a record in social services.

The corpse has been transferred to the Forensic Anatomical Institute of Seville for an autopsy to be carried out and investigation sources have indicated that the death occurred between 9:30 p.m. yesterday Sunday and 5 a.m. this Monday.

The Nicaraguan community has called a rally for tomorrow in Plaza Nueva to show their rejection of the events. It will be at 9:00 p.m. and it has summoned all Nicaraguans living in Seville, as well as migrants from Latin America and all Sevillians to participate in it.

The community spokesman, José Daniel Rodríguez Madrigal, has called for “justice to be done”, since he pointed out that the victim’s sister was known in his association since she was welcomed in a house of the entity when she came as a refugee in 2018 given the political and social situation that Nicaragua was experiencing at that time. “We were unaware that there was violence between the couple or that there were family conflicts,” he commented, “she has caught us all by surprise.”

If this case is confirmed as a sexist murder, there would already be 32 women fatalities of gender violence so far this year, 1,216 since 2003. Nine of these 32 women were murdered in Andalusia, 25% of the total, and another seven in Catalonia.

Precisely, the Ministry of Equality has convened the crisis committee for Tuesday morning to analyze the latest sexist crimes after a month of July in which eight women (nine if the one from Utrera is confirmed) have been murdered by their partners or ex-partners.
