FBI agents recently carried out a raid at two auto body shops in Doral and arrested the owner in connection with a 2019 murder attempt on a celebrity auto designer, according to NBC6 reports. The raid took place at Doral Collision Center and Exclusive Motoring Worldwide on Northwest 97th Avenue, where a significant number of FBI agents and police officers were present. While FBI officials confirmed the law enforcement activity, they did not provide further details.

The business owner, Rolando Ramirez, also known as Roly, appeared before a federal judge to face charges related to the shooting of Alex Vega in August 2019. The charges against Ramirez include murder for hire conspiracy. Additionally, two other suspects, Rasheed Ali and Tamrat Mason, are also facing charges in connection with the incident.

Ramirez’s attorney, David Kubiliun, addressed his arrest, stating that Ramirez had been aware of the investigation for over two years, had cooperated fully, and maintained his innocence. The attorney emphasized their commitment to vigorously defend Ramirez against all charges and expressed confidence in proving his innocence in court.

Previously, two other men, Jaime Serrano and Julian Jimenez, had been arrested for their involvement in the planned attack on Vega. Prosecutors revealed that Serrano and Jimenez had flown from New York to Miami, rented a car, and conducted surveillance on Vega to learn his daily routine. On the day of the incident, Jimenez, wearing a mask and gloves, approached Vega’s car and fired eight shots before fleeing in a car driven by Serrano.

While Vega survived the shooting, he sustained injuries and required surgery to remove the bullets from his body. Serrano was later convicted of various charges and sentenced to 50 years in prison, while Jimenez pleaded guilty to similar charges before trial.

The relationship between Vega and Ramirez dates back to 2011 when complaints were filed alleging that Vega, the owner of Exclusive Motoring, owed over $92,000 in invoices to Ramirez’s Doral Collision Center. A settlement reached in 2013 involved Ramirez taking over Exclusive Motoring and adding “Worldwide” to the business name, with Vega working for him.

An attorney representing the Vega family expressed gratitude to the FBI and the United States Attorney’s Office for their efforts and dedication to the case. The family appreciates the progress made in the investigation and legal proceedings following the 2019 incident.
