He left his young son locked in the car until five in the morning to go out to a nightclub in Eivissa and the National Police ended up arresting him as the author of a crime of child abandonment. The arrest was made by a group of agents after receiving a call from a woman late in the morning.
The complainant warned that she had heard crying while she was in the apartment near a nightclub in Eivissa. The woman went to the place where the crying was heard and verified that a young child was locked inside a car who was crying “inconsolably”, according to the testimony she gave to the agents when she called to report it.
When he saw the woman, the minor opened the vehicle door to ask for help and it was at that moment that the woman called the police. A Citizen Security group immediately went to the scene and verified that the woman’s complaint was true. The agents arrived accompanied by a health team that immediately took care of the minor and checked his condition.
The assistance services tried to minimize as far as possible the situation of risk to physical, mental or moral integrity to which the minor could be exposed, according to the National Police in a statement. Once the child had received health care, the agents began efforts to locate the child’s relatives and try to clarify how it was possible that he was locked in a car at that time of the morning.
It was verified that the father’s passport was found in the glove compartment of the van, for which reason the National Police requested the collaboration of the Local Police and the local security guards. The parent was located inside the premises by National Police agents and was detained as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of child abandonment.
After the documentary procedures, it passed judicial disposition. The same indicative of Citizen Security of the National Police took charge of the transfer of the minor to a reception center, as required by law.
