National Police agents have arrested a man in Eivissa who tried to burn his ex-partner by throwing Molotov cocktails at his home. The man had previously tried to enter the house brandishing a large knife, but he was unsuccessful because he was prevented by several people who were with the woman at the time.
The event took place last Sunday around 8:40 p.m., when the man tried to enter the home by force. The Police reported in a statement that the man was looking for a woman who had been his partner, with the intention of forcing him to resume the relationship. The victim refused and the man began to threaten her to leave the house. He was carrying a large knife and a plastic bag with objects inside.
The man indicated to one of the residents that the woman had to leave or, otherwise, she would burn the house with all the occupants inside. The people who were inside the home warned that they would call the police if he did not leave, so the man gave up and left.
Shortly after, the people who were in the victim’s apartment heard a powerful explosion. A Molotov cocktail had just hit the wall of the terrace of the home and shortly after the same thing happened with a second incendiary element. The man ended up throwing the bag he was carrying, in which there were more Molotov cocktails.
The residents immediately called 091 to notify that a fire had spread and several patrols of the National Police and the Eivissa Local Police went to the home, where it was found that significant fire damage had occurred on the terrace of a house That affected the kitchen. Several electrical appliances were completely charred because the fire began to spread through the house.
A crew of firefighters managed to put out the fire, while the Police began an investigation and found that the bottles thrown at the house contained gasoline and a wick. The knife was also recovered. Several witnesses corroborated the facts, so the man was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of an attempted murder with an incendiary device.
