Business collaboration between Andorra and Catalonia will be strengthened thanks to the agreement signed by both territories through the action agreement between Andorra Business, the principality’s economic promotion agency, and Acció, the Department of Business’s agency for business competitiveness i Treball de la Generalitat. The objective of the pact is to encourage and accelerate the drive to improve the competitiveness of Andorran and Catalan companies.
The agreement will explore the lines of action so that there are better synergy channels between companies in both areas. The signing of this collaboration agreement was carried out by the Minister of the Presidency, Economy and Business of Andorra, and President of Andorra Business, Jordi Gallardo, and the Minister of Business and Employment of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Roger Torrent.
The collaboration framework agreed upon allows promoting internationalisation, innovation and technological development between companies from Andorra and Catalonia. In this sense, Andorra Business will support Catalan companies that are interested in developing their business activities in the principality.
Similarly, by virtue of the agreement, possible joint actions will be studied to promote collaborative actions in areas such as medical devices, sports or fintech. In Catalan territory, technology centers will be promoted among Andorran companies, and Catalonia’s technological offer in the field of industry 4.0 and sustainability will also be made available. Another aspect that will promote good understanding between Andorra and Catalonia is that Acció will make its network of 40 offices scattered throughout the world available to companies in the principality.
In the opinion of the Minister of Business and Workforce, “more and more Catalan companies have growth projects in Andorra, and the alliance with Andorra Business will allow us to accompany them in this process”. Roger Torrent insisted that the signing of this agreement “will also offer opportunities for Catalan companies to increase collaboration with companies from the principality in strategic areas such as blockchain, audiovisual production, biotechnology, the world of sports or greentech, which are sectors priorities for the economic diversification of the Government of Andorra”. For the Catalan Administration, there is a firm conviction that this collaboration agreement “will reinforce the transformations of the productive model that both governments are promoting and that it will help us to be more competitive on the global stage”, added Torrent.
For his part, Jordi Gallardo stressed that “the agreement will allow Andorran companies to benefit from the services offered by Acció’s trade and investment offices”. These types of actions can help to identify and establish the first contacts with potential clients and suppliers, as well as to carry out the search to find the best partners and distribution channels. For the Andorran Minister of the Presidency, Economy and Business, “at the same time they will be able to receive support in the process of setting up the company outside the Andorran border and access personalized studies of foreign markets.” The Andorra Business company will be in charge of giving support to Catalan companies that are interested in developing their activities in Andorra.
Another aspect of great interest in the Andorran-Catalan alliance will be the Acció delegation in the Alt Pirineu, which will collaborate with Andorra Business to organize business meetings between companies from both territories and business visits on the ground. Likewise, joint sessions will be promoted to exchange good practices in the field of knowledge transfer and work will be done so that Catalan technology centers and companies can develop tests in Andorra within the framework of the Living Lab project of Andorra Recerca Innovació .
