The announcement by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, to advance the general elections to July 23 has surprised almost everyone and has disrupted the vacation plans for some of the best-known journalists in our country. Shortly after the chief executive’s announcement, the reaction of Àngels Barceló, presenter of the Hoy por Hoy program on Cadena Ser, went viral.

The electoral advance has also caught Ana Rosa Quintana with the planned vacations, who was also going to change the time slot on Telecinco. The woman from Madrid, who from September will host a program in the afternoons on this chain, has had no choice but to delay her vacation, because she does not plan to lose these elections.

“Some of you thought to go on vacation in July?” Asked the presenter to her colleagues at the political table. “Me too, but not anymore,” she assured.

In order not to miss the electoral appointment, Quintana will combine his vacations with that of Joaquín Prat. “In July, you and I are going on vacation, alternately,” explained the presenter. “But for a week, the rest we will be here,” she added next.

The host of the Ana Rosa Program has also shown her concern about the date chosen by Sánchez and if the heat could affect participation: “People are going to vote with a lot of heat, I don’t know if it will affect their intention of vote”.

Nor does he see that the polling stations are prepared for a possible heat wave. “I find the problem in the schools. I don’t know if they have fans and air for those who are at the table, surely it is the hottest date of the entire summer,” he opined.

In addition, Quintan has asked for respect for the result that comes out of the polls on June 23: “What the sovereign people vote for is democracy. You have to see who votes, who gets the majority and who is left out, after a five years of government experience.
