An ophthalmologist who works as head of section in La Fe has denounced the president of the College of Physicians of Valencia and also head of section in the same service, Mercedes Hurtado, for an alleged slap that she gave him after an argument for a work reason .
The College of Physicians has reported that the president is not going to comment on this matter and simply notes that it is “in the hands of the court and the lawyers.”
According to the complaint, which is being investigated by the Court of Instruction 9 of Valencia and to which EFE has had access, the slap occurred on July 3, around 9:30 a.m. in the complainant’s office and in the presence of several witnesses. , whose names have been included in the complaint.
Apparently, an assistant gave him a report in his office to review an emergency that had been attended to during the previous weekend. This review had been requested by the MIR on duty and corresponded, according to the complainant, to Dr. Hurtado’s section.
However, always according to the complaint, Hurtado appeared at the complainant’s office “requiring that said review be carried out by the MIR, (resident internal doctor)” that the complainant was in charge of at that time.
He responded that “he was under his charge and that he could not carry out said review,” but the accused returned “with the patient’s medical history to deliver it to the MIR and ordering it to proceed with the aforementioned review.”
The complainant refused and “after about 10 minutes the accused asked the MIR again to leave with her, and when faced with the new refusal, in a violent manner, he proceeded to grab her by the arm, trying to take her with him.”
The complainant claims that he stood between them and that Dr. Hurtado “surprisingly proceeded to hit the left forearm” of her fellow employee with her open hand.
“The next day, observing that some bruises were appearing on his forearm, bruises that corresponded to the slap he had received the day before and after contacting his union, (CESM-CV), he proceeded to receive assistance in the emergency room, where the existence of a hematoma compatible with the slap was confirmed”.
The complainant’s lawyer has asked the court to agree as a precautionary measure “and to protect his person” the prohibition of the accused from getting closer than five meters, given that they both work in the same place, as well as the prohibition of communicating from any mode.
The court has received the complaint and has sent the emergency report to the Institute of Legal Medicine of Valencia so that it can issue the appropriate report.
