Computer security is a topic that generates great concern in today’s digital age. With the increase in the use of devices connected to the Internet, and the greater vulnerability in information systems, the risk of suffering cyberattacks has increased considerably in recent years.
Cyber ??attacks on public institutions are becoming more frequent in Spain and the most attacked industry in the second quarter of 2022 was the education and research sector. According to a study conducted by Barracuda Networks, 1.2 million cyber threats are detected each month.
These cyberattacks can have serious financial impacts, destroy a company’s reputation, cause the loss of sensitive data, and even pose a threat to national security. That is why it is so important to have the appropriate means to be able to recognize these threats, avoid economic losses and unnecessary headaches.
La empresa ESED – Cybersecurity
Eduard Bardají and Esteban Sardanyés, co-founders of ESED, decided to create ESED in order to help their clients work with the best technologies so that they could be more efficient, while giving main importance to information security.
Petam.io is an online scanner, developed to detect vulnerabilities and security gaps in a computer system. By entering a specific IP or URL, Petam.io tracks and scans the different weak points that exist in a computer infrastructure, and that make it vulnerable to cyberattacks. In addition, this analysis also includes a report on the SEO positioning, performance and accessibility of the analyzed website.
“The use of this tool does not require previous installations, nor specific knowledge in computer security. Our main objective is for companies to be aware of their vulnerabilities and to be able to implement solutions for greater security”, explains Eduard Bardají, founding partner of ESED and an expert in cybersecurity. “Not all computer security solutions are suitable for all systems, but it is important to find the specific ones for a specific problem,” he reveals.
The objective of this tool is that any computer technician, CTO, CEO, developer or cybersecurity specialist can easily and quickly detect possible security gaps in your IT system and that could be the cause of the entry of malware.
“With Petam.io you can make a simulation closer to the hacker,” says Sardanyés. “It is ideal for detecting weak points both in the most superficial barriers of the system, and in the deepest ones thanks to its four phases: Inventory, what you want to attack; Discovery, this is a collection of data to see from where a cybercriminal could access the system; Detection, consists of detecting possible vulnerabilities and, finally, Exploitation, seeing how these vulnerabilities can be used to cyber attack the system”, he concludes.
The tool has a free version for testing and offers different plans and addons (functions that you can add regardless of the chosen plan), to adapt to the needs of users or companies. The implementation of addons offers a greater level of depth of analysis, providing much more specific data.
Currently, ESED offices are located in the TCM3 building of the TecnoCampus technology and business park, which is committed to entrepreneurship and quality training linked to the productive fabric of the territory.
“Working at TecnoCampus has helped us to consolidate ourselves within the sector”, explains Sardanyés. “By being in constant contact with other companies, we have been able to generate contacts, create collaborations and strengthen relationships,” he says. “In addition, it is a good way to meet, attract and retain talent”, he adds.
Currently, part of the ESED team is working on the development of two new tools that are being designed as an additional service to the brand, just as they have been done with Petam.io. “We still can’t reveal much, but on the one hand, we are working on the development of a tool to monitor information as a preventive measure for data theft and leakage, and on the other, on a personal security app,” he reveals. Sardanyés. “Both will be released in 2023 and we hope to be able to reveal more details soon,” he concludes.
