A 36-year-old woman, an occupational risk prevention technician, died this Thursday when a half-ton drum fell on her while she was working on the construction site of a building on the Chile highway and Horno de Cal street, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. , as confirmed by sources from the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center of 112 of the Canary Islands and the National Police.
According to the first information provided by the agents and health personnel deployed to the scene, it is a work accident, since the technician was carrying out her duties when the drum fell on her head, which caused her death.
The same police sources also added that the drum would have fallen when a pallet moved in the premises, hitting the victim, as reported by Canarias 7.
The building where the fatal accident occurred is a development of 85 homes and construction began in 2023.
Firefighters, ambulances, Labor Inspection personnel, as well as agents from the Local Police, in addition to the Homicide Group and Scientific Police of the National Police, have been brought to the scene.
The work accident has been prosecuted and police proceedings have been opened to clarify the facts.
