Almost 7,000 commercial premises, specifically 6,938, are closed in the city of Valencia and of these, a total of 1,073 are low-skilled, due to being located in areas with little commercial activity or in areas with less than 40 active establishments, among other characteristics. . The figures are part of the Map of commercial premises that the Eixos digital economic observatory has created for the College and Association of Real Estate Agents (API), with which it sought to analyze the commercial strength of the cities and the possible exits that the Unexploited ground floors may be used for other uses, including conversion into housing, preferably for groups with special needs.

The report, which places València as the third densest city among those studied, shows how the city has a “quite distributed” commercial offer and that the bulk of the establishments and, especially, those of non-everyday products, are concentrated in the south of the Turia Garden, in the Eixample and in the old town. From their analysis, there are a total of 28,602 commercial premises, 21,664 active and another 6,938 closed, which represents 24% of the total.

Depending on the location of the premises, the study qualifies that, of the total of 28,602 premises, 1,777 have an excellent location (rating A), another 10,073 a good location (rating B), another 13,176 a good location with nuances, others 2,463 premises had a regular location (grade D) and a total of the remaining 1,073 had an unfavorable or bad location (grades E and F).

This analysis places Valencia in tenth position in the classification of Spanish cities based on the location of its commercial establishments. Their figures reveal that 41% of their establishments are in a good location compared to 4% that are located in unfavorable areas. The ranking is led by Murcia, which with 89% of premises excellently located, ahead of Barcelona (8th position), or Madrid (9th position). In this table, Alicante is also located in eleventh position, with 23% of premises with an excellent location and 13% in unfavorable or recommendable locations.

The Eixos study also analyzes the situation of Alicante city, which has 13,190 stores, 9,398 active and another 3,792 closed. In the city of Alicante, the commercial offer is mainly located in preferential areas, ranging from 1,263 stores located in excellent locations, through 1,763 located in good areas and another 5,857 in good areas with nuances.

Both cities in the Valencian Community, explained by Eixos, present problems with the occupancy of commercial premises, which is why they would be placed at the bottom of the table. Recently Confecomerç CV, the confederation of small businesses in the Valencian Community, had put figures on the closure of stores, placing the figure at 3,251 businesses in the last two years.
