Almeida claims Madrid as an “icon of stability and prosperity”

The mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, called this Wednesday to continue along the path of “concord and coexistence” in the face of the “risks” that the city faces, within the framework of the celebration of the day of its patron saint, San Isidro, and has claimed the capital as an “icon of stability and prosperity.”

In the councilor’s speech to conclude the institutional event hosted by the Cibeles Palace, Martínez-Almeida highlighted that Madrid is a city “that grows, that works and to which people from all over the world come to undertake, to learn and to stay”.

“Ultimately, we celebrate Madrid, the capital of Spain, the city where no one feels strange, the city that never disappoints, it is a fact that Madrid is experiencing a special moment,” he stressed, while also claiming the role of the city “of service to Spain.”

“At the end of the seventies, Basque, Andalusian, Aragonese, Galician, Catalan, Extremaduran citizens and citizens from all over the world, all regions of Spain, gathered in their political capital, here, in Madrid, to provide the entire nation with of the institutional and political framework, which is at the base of everything we have achieved to this day,” he added.

The councilor has renewed his commitment to “delivery and service” of the city to the whole of Spain. “This is the sense of being of this city and everything it represents, serving Spain as a pole of attraction for talent, serving Spain as a fundamental engine of business and economic dynamism, as an icon of stability, legal security and prosperity. In short, serve Spain with all our strength, with all our dedication,” he expressed.

In his speech he also had words for His Majesty, King Felipe VI, whom he highlighted as the “key to the vault” of Spain and representative of the “unity, freedom and social justice enshrined in our Constitution.”

“If Spain turns its eyes to Madrid to gather certainties, recover hope, join forces; Madrid in turn turns its eyes towards the figure of the King to renew its commitment and launch itself once again and as necessary to fulfill the task that has been entrusted to us, the highest to which a city can be called, capital status. of the oldest nation in Europe”, he indicated.

Almeida has insisted on his references to the Constitution and the arrival of democracy and has encouraged people to follow that path that “filled millions of people with hope.”

This city can and wants to give new impetus to the greatest political success in our recent history. Madrid can continue to be an icon of coexistence and union between Spaniards,” she stressed.

He considers that those awarded this Wednesday with the Medals of Honor and the City are “a clear example of prosperity and progress”, recognizing the trajectory of people and institutions that contribute “in a very special way” to making Madrid today the city it is. .
