The 13 presidents of the PP and the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla will sign a joint petition to Pedro Sánchez for the Conference of Presidents to meet “urgently”, given the silence of the President of the Government regarding the requests made individually by some regional presidents, such as the Andalusian Juanma Moreno, the Galician Alfonso Rueda or the Castilian and Leonese Alfonso Fernández Mañueco.

This joint action was decided this afternoon in a meeting held by the general secretary of the PP, Cuca Gamarra, with all the presidential advisors of the PP governments. The joint petition is due to the fact that according to article 4 of the Regulations of the Conference of Presidents, it must meet, at the initiative of the President of the Government, the Preparatory Committee, or ten regional presidents, thus the petition, signed by 13 barons , should be attended to. Furthermore, the PP recalls in the letter that the deadline for the call is 20 days, which can be reduced if there are urgent reasons, as the PP considers to be the case now.

The regional presidents of the PP intend, with the meeting of the Conference of Presidents, to analyze the consequences that the agreements signed by the PSOE with the independentists of Junts and ERC will have for the autonomous communities, and which in addition to the amnesty include measures such as forgiveness of a part of Catalonia’s debt, the transfer of Rodalies or specificities for the financing of this autonomous community. “What belongs to everyone is decided by everyone,” said Gamarra in the meeting with the councilors.

The text signed by the presidents highlights “the enormous social concern” generated by the pacts reached by Sánchez with the independentistas in exchange for their votes for the investiture, and points out that the priority object of the Conference of Presidents, as established in its Regulations in Its article II is “to debate the main guidelines of public, sectoral and territorial policies” and “on matters of relevant importance for the State of the Autonomies”.

The regional presidents of the PP consider “essential and urgent the convocation of the highest body of institutional cooperation between the Government of Spain and the Governments of the Autonomous Communities and the Autonomous Cities of Ceuta and Melilla.”

At that meeting of the Conference of Presidents, the PP barons will defend the general interests of Spain; the validity of the autonomous State and our institutions in the face of attempts to break equality between citizens, and solidarity between territories.

According to Cuca Gamarra, “Spain is not decided in a closed-door meeting in Waterloo with a fugitive from justice,” because, “what belongs to everyone is decided by everyone.” The general secretary of the PP defends that “our country is not decided based on the interests of a single person; that is not democracy.” The number two of the PP emphasizes that “Spain is decided by the Spanish, and we want the equality of citizens to be respected.”
