The Spanish Carlos Alcaraz, current champion, shares the side of the Indian Wells Masters 1,000 draw with the Italian Jannik Sinner and the German Alexander Zverev, while the also Spanish Rafa Nadal is on the same side as the Serbian Novak Djokovic and the Russian Daniil Medvedev , according to the draw held this Monday.

Alcaraz, number two in the world, will debut directly in the second round against one between the Italian Matteo Arnaldi and the Frenchman Luca Van Assche and has a quarterfinal against Zverev on the horizon.

The Spaniard will reappear in an official match in Indian Wells after the ankle problem suffered on February 20 in Rio, although he already competed this last Sunday in an exhibition with Rafa Nadal in Las Vegas, in which he won in the final ten-point tiebreaker.

Sinner, recent champion of the Australian Open, could be Alcaraz’s rival in a hypothetical semifinal, although the Italian could have to overcome the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas or the Russian Andrey Rublev on his way.

On the other side of the table, Nadal, who dropped to 652nd position in the world ranking after missing practically the entire 2023 season and is playing this tournament with a protected ranking, will have a debut with the Canadian Milos Raonic and a potentially demanding second round against the Dane Holger Rune, seventh favorite.

Nadal would have a hypothetical quarterfinal with Medvedev, while Djokovic, who returns to compete in Indian Wells for the first time since 2019, has a quarterfinal with the Polish Hubert Hurkacz on the horizon.

The Serbian will debut against the Australian Aleksandar Vukic or a player from the qualifications.

The Polish Iga Swiatek, world number one, shares the side of the Indian Wells WTA 1,000 draw with the Kazakh Elena Rybakina, defending champion, and the Spanish Paula Badosa, according to the draw held this Monday.

Swiatek will debut against one between Danielle Collins and a player from the qualifiers and could have a demanding third round against the Czech Linda Noskova. On the horizon she has a quarterfinal with the Tunisian Ons Jabeur, sixth seed, and a semifinal against Rybakina, fourth seed.

Rybakina herself could be a rival for Paula Badosa, who is competing in this tournament with an invitation letter, in the second round. Badosa, who won Indian Wells in 2021, will debut against the American Ashlyn Krueger. In the same quarter of the table is the Czech Marketa Vondrousova.

On the other side of the draw was the Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, number two in the world, who could have a quarterfinal with Jessica Pegula and a potential semifinal against one between Coco Gauff and the Chinese Qinween Zheng. The WTA 1,000 in Indian Wells will be held from March 6 to 17.
