Albacete ends the dream of Dépor

Albacete is a Second Division team. The La Mancha ruined the hopes of Deportivo de A Coruña, a historic player in trouble, who also played at Riazor and in front of thousands of their fans. The Coruñeses write a new page of disappointment since they descended to First RFEF.

Everything was ready for Dépor, the most glamorous team in the category but which had been surpassed in the regular phase by Racing de Santander (even Lionel Scaloni, the Argentine coach, sent a message of support), to be confirmed as a Second Division team Division. In fact, the Galicians went ahead on the scoreboard in the first half with a great goal from Mario Soriano.

Everything seemed to go with the wind in favor. In fact, even the tie was worth them in a possible extension to have been better classified in the regular phase. But in the 82nd minute everything started to go wrong. Alberto tied the game and sent the game to extra time.

That hard blow was accused by Borja Jiménez’s men, who dedicated themselves to defending their own goal in extra time. Albacete grew and went for the win and in the 113th minute, with seven to go, the Catalan Jordi Sánchez turned the score around and decided the tie, in the middle of a stand that had dreamed of regaining its status in professional football, but that will have to wait another year.
