The family and relatives of the Sevillian footballer Sergio Rico have had a very bad time in recent weeks. Since the athlete suffered an accident with a horse on May 28, both his wife Alba Silva and his close circle have been supporting him and following his progress closely, something quite hard if we take into account the misdiagnosis that the goalkeeper had.
The soccer player suffered a craniocephalic trauma due to some blows that the animal gave him in the pilgrimage of El Rocío, Huelva, which caused the toilets of the enclosure to request his immediate transfer by helicopter to the Virgen del Rocío Hospital in Seville. Once he got there, doctors sedated him and induced a coma that lasted for weeks.
During all those days, the goalkeeper’s wife practically lived in the hospital and spoke to the media, visibly affected by not being able to give good news. In addition, the first attempts to reduce the sedation went wrong and Rico did not seem to improve.
After almost a month asleep and a lot of anguish on the part of those closest to him, the Sevillian began to react and improve little by little, something that filled his people with optimism and enthusiasm.
Alba Silva told the press that now they had reason to be optimistic and smile because the PSG player was communicating with them through gestures and recognized their family and friends.
In a matter of days, Rico left the ICU and went to the plant, where he can be accompanied by his family 24 hours a day and where he is currently waiting to be sent home. The Andalusian’s situation has improved so much that he even found the strength the other day to upload a thank you story to his fans on Instagram.
The Andalusian influencer has given us all a lesson on how to deal with uncertainty, pain and anguish. Despite the fact that the doctors warned her that they were facing a serious injury and that they would not know if Rico would wake up or what consequences he would have from the accident, Silva never lost hope and faith that her husband would return to her side.
A few hours ago, the young woman uploaded a story to her official Instagram profile in which she can be seen with a good face while smiling shyly. In the area below her photo, she put a gif with the words ”do not give up”, which means ”don’t give up”, a sentence that has already become a motto for she. It should be said that although Rico’s situation has improved a lot, there is still a long way to go, since the player has lost almost 20 kilograms of muscle mass and his condition is still weak.
