The former leader of the Catalan PP Albert Fernández Saltiveri has been acquitted by Criminal Court number 10 of Barcelona of the accusations of ill-treatment that his ex-wife, the leader of New Generations in Catalonia – the popular youth – and now a councilor in the Town Hall of Sant Adrià del Besòs Irene Pardo.

The judge considers that the facts denounced cannot be proven and that in the oral trial there was the word of one against the other, although the sentence is of first instance and is appealable.

Fernández Saltiveri, who was part of the party leadership as communication vice-secretary, was removed, he was also an adviser in the Barcelona Provincial Council. He now claims that he be reinstated in his charges and

Likewise, he asks that Pardo be expelled from the organization and that he resign both from his public position in the Sant Adrià del Besós consistory and from the leadership of the PP youth. He also asks the mayor of Badalona, ??Xavier García Albiol, to dismiss one of his councilors, the former deputy of Ciudadanos David Mejía, for “lying in court.” Mejía was Pardo’s partner when the complaint was filed against Fernández Saltiveri.

Consulted sources of the formation point out that Fernández Saltiveri will be reinstated in the direction, as stipulated in the statutes. On the expulsion of Pardo that the defendant now demands, it is up to the Committee of Rights and Guarantees of Genoa, the central leadership of the party, to decide.
