Last Wednesday, April 26, there was a traffic accident between a motorist and a car in the Ronda de Dalt in Barcelona. The event, which could be seen in a video shared on social networks first by the user Ramon Delgado (@rescuetruck) and later by the SocialDrive platform, took place on the morning of that day. From this channel we have contacted the Guà rdia Urbana, but they have not specified the exact time or point of the road where it occurred.
They have confirmed that the motorcycle driver was slightly injured, despite the spectacular nature of the accident. And it is that after colliding with the rear part of the convertible Ford Mustang he was shot giving a turn in the air. He then hit the ground, fortunately the car behind him stopped in time and did not hit him.
The Guà rdia Urbana is still investigating what happened, so it has not stated who is responsible for the accident: the motorcyclist, the driver of the car or both? Reading the comments made on the Twitter post, it can be seen that there is no unanimous opinion. In any case, it must be said that in rear-end collisions the vehicle behind is usually to blame because it is assumed that it did not keep a safe enough distance to be able to react to an unforeseen event and stop on time.
As can be seen in the images, recorded by the camera of the vehicle that was driving in the right lane, at that time the circulation through the Ronda de Dalt was fluid. In fact, you can first see a white Seat Ibiza passing the driver recording the video in the left lane. From behind appears a Ford Mustang that also moves at a good pace, until it brakes abruptly just as a motorcycle approaches between the vehicles, which does not have time to decelerate to avoid the collision.
From the way the motorcyclist bursts onto the scene, it seems that he is moving illegally along the road, as if he were zigzagging between the cars. Otherwise, he would have been seen circulating following the convertible, ahead of the white Toyota that does appear behind.
As for the reason why the Mustang braked so abruptly, it is unknown, since we do not see what happens in the front. Some people believe that it slowed down due to the nearby presence of a radar, since on this road there are several cinemometers that are responsible for checking that vehicles do not exceed the maximum speed allowed, estimated at 80 km/h.
As reported by official sources, the motorcycle driver was taken by the emergency medical service to a hospital with minor injuries. However, the accident could have had much more serious consequences for him. It should not be forgotten that motorcyclists are one of the most vulnerable road users, their own body being the one that directly receives the impact. For this reason, they must always drive with great caution and avoid risky behaviour.
Like the rest of the cars, they have to circulate at an adequate pace, in their lane and maintaining a safe distance. Zigzag movements to move faster overtaking other vehicles are dangerous, as there is a risk that other drivers will not see the motorcyclist approaching and maneuver without taking it into consideration.
