A resident of León who suffers from advanced cancer and who lost her job has launched a ‘crowdfunding’ to finance a high-value intervention
“I am 40 years old and have two children. One is 12 and a girl is almost 4. I am from León and I am going through a very aggressive cancer called mucinous adenocarcinoma of the jejunum with peritoneal carcinomatosis stage IV,” says Silvia Fernández Peral in a campaign that she has put underway on the GoFundMe platform in order to finance a high-value intervention.
According to the author of the campaign, she needs immediate intervention because her oncologist doctors do not want to perform an operation again since she suffered a very rapid relapse.
“This nightmare began two years ago, going to the emergency room up to seven times. The last time I fainted at home after four days vomiting and that’s when a doctor finally took care of my case. That’s when my nightmare began, tests and more tests looking for the diagnosis,” says Silvia.
It was difficult to diagnose as the cancer was in an unusual location. “I have already undergone two operations and right now it is my last asset. They only give me palliative chemo with a pump at home to keep me from growing, but that does not help me have a chance to be cured,” adds the author of the bell.
Each session of the ePIPAC intervention costs 11,110 euros, according to Fernández. “Initially it would be three sessions combined with chemotherapy and then re-evaluate to have a Hipec. During this process the bar where I worked has also closed, which has left me without a job although I am on sick leave but that cannot cover what I need. Granite by granite we will build the castle. Thank you for your solidarity,” concludes the affected woman.
