A 73-year-old woman died this Monday in El Masnou after being rescued in critical condition from inside an apartment where a fire broke out in the town, located in the Catalan region of Maresme.
According to the Firefighters, who sent six crews to the scene, around three-thirty in the afternoon they received notice of a fire in a building on Francesc Macià Street. They have gone with an automatic ladder, three water trucks, a light command vehicle and the light sanitized unit of the Support Operational Group (GROS) with a nurse from the Medical Emergency System (SEM). The fire was located on the ground floor of a three-story single-family house.
The Firefighters have set up two search teams and have accessed the burning apartment through the façade and, once inside, they have located the woman in critical condition, affected by burns and smoke inhalation. The emergency personnel have rescued the victim and have left him in the hands of the SEM. However, her attempts to stabilize her have failed to save her life.
The SEM has sent three units to the scene, while five patrols have worked on the part of the Mossos d’Esquadra.
