Agents of the National Police have arrested two men in the town of Alicante, one of them a minor, for allegedly robbing an elderly man of a high-end watch valued at more than 100,000 euros using violence.
The police officers were requested by 091 to go to the vicinity of Avenida de Maisonnave in Alicante, where according to several calls received, a robbery with violence had been committed by two men, as indicated by the National Police in a statement.
According to the call made by a witness to what happened, three people had been violently assaulted by two men who approached the three citizens orchestrating a distraction maneuver. After that, they were knocked down with a strong push to snatch the watch from one of the victims.
Upon arrival of the agents at the scene, they observed a group of people who were holding a man, who was allegedly one of the two perpetrators of the robbery, who had been intercepted and detained by a witness to the events. to prevent their escape.
The rest of the agents deployed in the area managed to locate and arrest the other alleged perpetrator, as they were still in the vicinity of the scene of the event. Regarding the stolen watch, according to witnesses, this individual had given it to a third party, who got aboard a vehicle and left the scene.
Meanwhile, the victims – an elderly couple and their 55-year-old daughter – had to be treated at the scene by the agents and later by the health services, having suffered injuries during the violent robbery.
Regarding the scenario orchestrated by the perpetrators to distract the victims, according to those affected and witnesses, while one of the men distracted the victims with an inconsequential question while showing them his mobile phone, the other man took advantage of the inattention. to give them a strong push.
The perpetrator’s attack caused the attackers to fall, who fell violently to the ground, at which time the precious watch was taken away from one of them by a strong pull.
Furthermore, while one of the perpetrators was detained by a witness to the events, the man who snatched the watch from the victim gave this object to a third party, who fled the scene aboard a vehicle with the stolen property before being intercepted. by the agents in the vicinity of the place where the events occurred.
Subsequently, after fully identifying the perpetrators, the agents discovered that the arrested minor had escaped from a Juvenile Center in the Region of Murcia. The two detainees, aged 15 and 20 and of Algerian and Moroccan nationality respectively, were placed at the disposal of the Alicante Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office and the Alicante Guard Investigative Court. Detention in a juvenile center was ordered for the minor and imprisonment for the adult detainee.
As for the stolen watch that has not been recovered for the moment, it is a collector’s item that, although it cost the victim about 35,000 euros about 15 years ago, its current value has appreciated in the watch market. specialized, and can cost up to 117,000 euros.
The agents continue with the investigation for its complete resolution, for the identification of the people who participated in the robbery and fled aboard a vehicle.
