A traveler arrested in Barajas for an attempted sexual assault on a cleaning employee

Agents of the Civil Guard have arrested a Mauritanian citizen tonight at the Adolfo Suárez-Madrid Barajas airport for an alleged attempt to sexually assault a cleaning employee, sources from the Armed Institute have confirmed to Europa Press.

The events took place minutes after midnight in the airport transit area. An individual bound for Bogotá has approached an employee who was working in the men’s bathrooms. According to the victim, the man hit her and also threatened to pull down her pants, but she was able to avoid him and notified the National Police.

The agents, in turn, notified the Civil Guard, in charge of security in this area, who arrested this Mauritanian individual after checking what happened on the security cameras, which reveal how the affected worker left that bathroom.

The man was brought to justice this morning. The detainee is not part of the large group of African asylum seekers who have arrived at the Madrid airport for weeks, the same sources have indicated.
