Osasuna narrowly beat Getafe (3-2) thanks to Jesús Areso’s spectacular goal, in the 80th minute and almost from the corner, which restored the advantage to his team after the azulones tied the duel after the break.

Clean slate for an Osasuna hurt by its elimination from the Cup on Wednesday and that from now on will focus on the League with the aim of improving the numbers from the first round.

The match started with little rhythm, but a red flash served to open the scoring in the 9th minute. Pablo Ibáñez crossed from the right very precisely so that Raúl García de Haro scored his third goal of the course after beating David Soria with a header. .

With timid approaches, but without very clear chances, the game took a new turn. The hosts doubled their lead on half an hour with Iker Muñoz’s spectacular left-footed volley from the edge of the area. The youth player scored his second goal as a professional, both against the blue team.

Osasuna came on board as the minutes went by thanks to the warmth of their fans, while Getafe served long balls for the Turkish Enes Ünal and Borja Mayoral. A defensive error by Juan Cruz led to the visitors’ first shot on goal in the 44th minute. England’s Mason Greenwood shot, but Sergio Herrera thwarted the action with his left foot in a good intervention.

After passing through the locker room, Osasuna enjoyed a clear chance from Raúl with a header. The number ’23’ finished a great play by Pablo Ibáñez, one of the best on his team, appearing in various areas of the pitch.

Things seemed to be getting very difficult, but top scorer Mayoral brought out his scoring instincts to make it 2-1 in the 64th minute with a great shot at the near post. Then, four minutes later, Maksimovic silenced El Sadar with his header from a corner. The Serbian rose to turn his neck with great skill and place the ball to the opposite post. Impossible and unpredictable for Herrera.

Jordi Martin was able to sentence the Navarrese after a gift from Peña. Herrera saved his team again before witnessing the great goal of the day from his goal, 8 minutes later.

Jesús Areso, with a powerful right hand – between a center and a shot as he said after the game – sent the ball from the very corner of the corner when he was already running out of route. His shot was poisoned, he went over David Soria and into the net after hitting the far post. Absolute madness when there were 10 left for 90.

Osasuna won again after the eliminations in the Spanish Super Cup and Copa del Rey to look with hope ahead of a second round in which they will have to improve the numbers achieved in the first.
