That the political class of Sant Vicenç de Montalt (Maresme) has nerves on the surface, is an increasingly tangible fact. The City Council has announced that it will apply the protocol against situations of harassment within the institution. This has been claimed by the socialist councilor, Esther Padilla, after the non-attached councilor who left the PSC and who is currently the president of JxCat, Robert Subirón, insulted, intimidated and tried to intimidate her at the end of the plenary session held yesterday .
After a heated plenary debate, at the end of the session, Subirón addressed the Socialist councilor with whom he had had a bitter disagreement during the plenary session. The debate on the urban development of what is popularly known as ‘Telefónica Pill’ led the socialist councilor to reply to the accusations of the non-attached councilor, who accused the PSC and former mayor Sandoval of having lied on this issue. Padilla defended himself, arguing that “Robert Subirón wanted to buy a flat from the urban developer of the area” which exemplifies that he knew about the project that he claims to be unaware of.
The affirmations enervated the one who is now president of JxCat and possible number two on the list that Amadeu Clofent will head. Subirón, at the end of the plenary session, addressed Padilla and blurted out: “you’re not more stupid because you don’t train” which outraged the socialist councilor who has demanded to activate all the harassment protocols, both at the municipal level, and before the services PSC legal
Precisely, the Equality Commission, which must activate the protocols in these cases, will meet next Monday to decide the actions to be taken, as reported by the mayor, Víctor Llasera. The mayor, who admits that he was not in the room when the events occurred, laments and “strongly condemns these attitudes” and deplores the degree of tension reached by local politics in Sant Vicenç de Montalt. “In these controversies, they will not find me” and he added that “we will be in the news again for this type of information.”
When asked by La Vanguardia about the incident, Robert Subirón has denied everything. “I did not intimidate anyone, I just told them that I had not been lucky in his intervention,” he asserts and denies that he uttered any insults, as confirmed by some witnesses. “There can be no witnesses because there was no one, it is the word of one against the other” maintains the councilor.
Precisely, one of the witnesses was the former mayor, Miquel Àngel Martínez, who has confirmed to this newspaper that Subirón insulted the socialist councilor in the terms that he has denounced. “He showed a very rude and disrespectful attitude and gave the impression that he was extremely nervous,” he said.
The former mayor and first secretary of the local group, Javier Sandoval, has also reacted with indignation, accusing Subirón of “being permanently anchored in the controversy and present in all complex issues” and acting in an “intimidating manner.” For all this, the PSC demands the immediate resignation of the non-attached councilor and the disapproval of the municipal plenary, as well as that he be required to apologize. In parallel, they assure that they have activated the protocol of the party so that the case is brought to justice.
