A repeat thief from Bisbal d'Empordà with 50 criminal records enters prison

The Bisbal d’Empordà guard court has sent to prison the multi-recidivist thief who has fifty criminal records and who was detained by the Mossos for several criminal acts in recent days.

After testifying, the judge has ordered preventive detention for the man who in the last two days has entered at least two establishments and one home.

Investigators suspect that he may have participated in more robberies in other businesses in the capital of Baix Empordà.

Precisely this Wednesday, councilors of Security of the Bisbal de Empordà, Palamós and Calonge have met with the chief prosecutor of Girona to find formulas to put to multi-recidivism in the Baix Empordà.

During the meeting, which was held at the Palau de Justícia, the councilors warned of “the social alarm” generated by these thieves, who commit crimes day in and day out, and that hours after they are arrested they return to be on the street.

The Bisbal Security Councilor, Xavier Dilmé, believes that this spiral ends up generating “a feeling of impunity” that can be “very dangerous”, because “it does not discourage crimes from being committed.”

Dilmé also emphasizes that there are flagrant cases, in which thieves have dozens of criminal records and yet do not end up going to prison. At the meeting, they agreed with the prosecutor’s office to join forces to try to reverse the situation.

In Bisbal this Monday and Tuesday the Mossos d’Esquadra and the Local Police of Bisbal have arrested two thieves who were creating alarm and who have caused “an uptick” in crime in the city. One of them, who has entered a closed center, was dedicated to carrying out forced robberies in homes.

The second arrested person has entered prison after being brought to justice. Proof of the arrested person’s criminal activity are the three robberies in two days that he has committed this week, although it is suspected that there could be more.
