At least thirty tornadoes have hit the southern and midwestern United States in the last few hours. One of them broke into a concert at an Illinois state theater with little warning. The roof collapsed, crushing a good part of the 260 attendees.

The exact number of deaths is unknown and could rise in the coming hours as emergency services in the hardest-hit states (Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana and Tennessee) search the streets for survivors and assess the damage. Around 300,000 citizens have been left without electricity.
