A man who raped a woman and kept her in a chalet in Requena is sentenced to 20 years

The Fifth Section of the Provincial Court of Valencia has sentenced a man who raped a friend and kept her for hours in her chalet in Requena to 20 years in prison for a continued crime of sexual assault and another for illegal detention.

The man will not be able to communicate with the victim or come closer than 500 meters from his home, place of work, study or any place where he is during the period of years. The sentence also requires the payment of compensation of 17,250 euros for the psychological consequences and injuries suffered by the woman.

The events began on the afternoon of June 2, 2020 when the convicted person picked up the victim with his vehicle and they went together to his home, where they consumed cocaine and drank alcohol.

At a certain point, the man changed his attitude and started an argument with the victim, insulting her, hitting her, threatening her with a knife and an ax, and sexually forcing her on several occasions.

The woman tried to flee the house on two occasions, without success because the condemned man dragged her back into the chalet. Hours later and during a new sexual assault, the victim hit the attacker on the head with an empty bottle and she was finally able to escape, naked and badly injured, from the house.

The victim, who was initially rescued by a farmer from the area until the arrival of the security forces, suffered multiple abrasions and bruises on her face, chest and extremities and was left with psychological sequelae. The sentence is not final and can be appealed before the Civil and Criminal Chamber of the Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community.
