At gunpoint, a man has taken a two-year-old child from a juvenile center in Lleida where he is sheltered, supervised by the General Directorate of Care for Children and Adolescents (DGAIA). He pointed a gun at a security guard and an educator at the Center Risedencial d’Acció Educativa (CRAE) Llars Infantils Torre Vicens and took the little boy.

It happened on Sunday. “He is the father or a direct relative,” according to the Mossos d’Esquadra, who have issued a search and arrest order for the man.

For its part, the Department of Social Rights confirmed this Wednesday the abduction of the minor under guardianship and has assured that it is working “together with the Mossos to find him.”

The child is one of the two minors under guardianship who were recovered by the Mossos d’Esquadra the previous Friday after being located in a supermarket on Lluís Companys street.

Investigators suspected that the family had fled to France and periodically changed locations. On Friday they located the mother and two of her children when they returned to Lleida and were able to recover them. They had been missing for about three months. Another 15-year-old brother, who was in an identical situation, was located days ago and has already re-entered a center, according to the newspaper Segre.

At the same time, the Mossos d’Esquadra continue to investigate the whereabouts of four brothers who were taken “by force” by their relatives from a guardianship center in the town of Raimat, also in Lleida.
