A man was arrested for the alleged murder of his four children, aged between 1 and 6, after the discovery this week of the four bodies inside a house, located in a district in southern Jakarta, police sources reported.
The Indonesian Police indicated in a statement that they arrived at the house after a complaint from neighbors about the “strong smell” coming from an apartment located in the Jagakarsa district, in the south of the Indonesian capital and, when the agents entered the place , they found the four bodies in one of the rooms.
According to police information, released the day before, the four dead children are two girls, aged 4 and 6, and two boys, aged 1 and 3.
The head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Bintoro, explained, quoted in the note, that the corporation continues to investigate the case and that preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect attempted suicide after the attack, but survived. and was admitted to a local hospital.
“The suspect, who is the father of the victims, attempted suicide and is currently receiving medical treatment at the hospital,” the superintendent said.
The Police still do not know the possible reasons that motivated the crime, but have reported that the individual, whose identity and age were not revealed, had been reported for domestic violence against his wife shortly before committing the murders of their four children.
“Police received a report that the suspect was reported for allegedly committing domestic violence,” authorities stressed in the statement, adding that the woman suffered multiple injuries.
Due to the attacks, the woman had to be admitted to a health center in the region and, therefore, was not at home at the time of the murders.
The police came to question the attacker in the case of domestic violence, but released him shortly after because the man argued that there was no one available who could take care of his children.
