The Mossos d’Esquadra yesterday arrested a 55-year-old man accused of a crime of homicide for allegedly intentionally fatally running over another person, 76 years old, in the municipality of Montferri (Tarragona).

Sources close to the investigation have explained that the detainee and the deceased man both belong to this small town, so they had to know each other, which is why the Mossos d’Esquadra are now investigating the causes that motivated this intentional fatal attack.

The events occurred yesterday shortly before twenty to twelve noon on Avinguda Tarragona in the town of Montferri.

Different testimonies told the Mossos that the fatal attack would have been intentional, sources from the Generalitat Police have specified.

The victim was immediately transferred to the Joan XXIII Hospital in Tarragona in critical condition, where he died hours later.

After the accident occurred, the Mossos opened an investigation that allowed the driver who allegedly committed this accident to be arrested yesterday, accused of the crime of homicide.

The Criminal Investigation Area of ??the Camp de Tarragona Police Region has taken charge of the investigation.

The detainee will be at the disposal of the Investigative Court in the next few hours as guard of Vendrell.
