The Local Police of Amposta (Montsià) arrested a 47-year-old man this Monday at noon as the alleged perpetrator of the death of his ex-partner, a 34-year-old woman, in a home in the municipality.
Sources close to the investigation have explained to the Catalan News Agency (ACN) that the victim’s body has been found dismembered, with some parts inside the apartment, located on Xile Street, and others in containers that the Mossos d’ Esquadra have sealed it and are guarding it. It is believed that the woman could have died days, even a week ago. The detainee had a restraining order against the victim.
According to the same sources, it was a friend of the alleged perpetrator who was notified of what had happened to the Local Police, who located the man wandering around the city. He already had a history of attacks on the woman, who on one occasion had tried to defend herself from the now detained man with a knife with which she had stabbed him. It was as a result of this fight that the restraining order was imposed on him. Both had a toxic relationship and the police had offered help to the victim.
The Criminal Investigation Division (DIGO) of the Terres de l’Ebre Police Region has taken charge of the investigation. In this sense, the TSJC has reported in a statement that the judge on duty in Amposta completes the removal of the body this Sunday night, although judicial identification has not yet been possible “due to the state of the remains found.”
